Nearly 200,000 Soccer Nets Recalled After Strangulation Death of a Child

Regent Sports is recalling 190,000 soccer nets sold at Wal-Mart, Ace Hardware and other national sports and toy stores from May 2002 through May 2008. The fixed knot flexible openings in the soccer goal are five inches instead of a safer four inches. Two reports of entanglement have been reported including the strangulation death of a 20 month year old child. The nets are sold under two different brand names, MacGregor Folding Soccer Goals and Mitre Folding Soccer Goals. The MacGregor nets measure 6 feet wide by 3 feet high and the Mitre net measures 8 feet wide by 6 feet high. Both nets have a foldable white frame with a white net that is attached by Velcro strips. MacGregor consumers should check their assembly
instructions for model number 97236 and on the box for an UPC code of 029807972365. Mitre consumers should check their assembly instructions for model number 89186 and the box for an UPC code of 029807891864. Retailers are Recalling Simplicity Brand Cribs due to Suffocation Hazards

National retailers are voluntarily recalling 600,000 Simplicity Brand Drop Side Cribs due to a sizing problem in the crib’s hardware. The difference in size can permit the drop side to come off the track and create a hazardous gap. If a small child sleeping in the crib was to encounter the gap they could become trapped or suffocate.
